Gran Capítulo de Masones del Real Arco de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos

The Royal Arch or Capitular movement in Mexico encompasses a system of rituals or degrees which are generally conferred in organizations called "chapters". The members are styled as "companions".
Eligiblity to petition for membership is confined to those men who have received the degrees of Entered Apprentice, Fellowcrft, and Master Mason in Masonic symbolic or "blue" lodges.
The Royal Arch activities are part of the York Rite, which has a long connection with Mexican history. Unfortunately, despite the fact that the York influence was crucial to the Mexican War for Independence, Mexican scholars have written almost nothing about the Royal Arch, and the general situation as far as research in Masonry in Mexico gives considerable cause for concern. Old records have vanished and little attention has been given to the preservation of what is an extremely important part of the Mexican past.
With the leadership of Oscar Salinas, a prominent Monterrey attorney and antiquarian who has been instrumental in keeping interest in Mexican Royal Arch activities alive, an effort is now being made to preserve the records and memorabilia not only of the Royal Arch but of other Mexican fraternal groups. These web pages are a part of that ongoing project.
It is unnecessary for records as they are discovered to be permanently rehoused if the chapter or lodge involved wishes to keep them. What can be done is to scan them for ready use by academics, as has been done at the University of the Americas with materials in the Rich Collection.
Another group requiring Royal Arch experience is the Knight Masons, the so-called Green Rite.
Still another body
closely connected with the Royal Arch is the Red Cross of Constantine.
